Softshell membrane fabrics;

Softshell derives its name from its inherent fabric structure. Softshell fabrics consist of 2 , 3 or 4 layers of fabric compounded with usually Polyurethane membrane. Outer skin structure offers waterproof and windproof functionality whereas membrane allows air passage and hence breathability of human skin. Outer fabric in softshell is usually 1/1 , 2/1 Oxford woven Polyester fabric layered with PU membrane. Polyester/Elastane (Lycra or Spandex or Creora may be) fabric also commonly used as shell fabric. Softshell fabrics find use in extreme sportswear, outdoor wear, sportswear, special work clothes and performance wear.
